How solids, liquids and gases are structured
- Solids: Particles are arranged in a regular repeating pattern, close together, vibrating in fixed positions.
- Liquids: Particles are arranged randomly, close together and vibrating, but are able to move past one another.
- Gases: Particles are arranged randomly, very far apart relative to the size of the particles themselves, and move randomly in different directions.
